It was a pain difficult to bear as the lovers of football and fans of the Former Kano Pillars midfielder Abdul Haruna watched die in kano on Sunday, December 6 after he slumped during a match between Kano Professionals and a selected amateur side in a friendly.
It was said that Haruna, also known as Chacha, fell down unchallenged and was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital before he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
Reacting after the incident, Kano Pillars’s media manager Idris Malikwa announced that the entire football community in Kano are in shock over the death of the 27-year-old star player.
Malikawa said: “Abdul Haruna died Sunday while playing in a friendly match between Kano Professionals and a selected amateur team in Kano. He was moving with the ball when he slumped and died on the pitch.
“He fell down unchallenged and was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital before he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
“This is a huge shock to the entire football family in Kano, we never expected this.
“He will be buried on Monday according to Islamic rites in Kano.”
Haruna left behind Surayya, his wife whom he married in 2012. The union is blessed with a baby boy.
The cause of his death was yet to be determined at the time of filing this report.
