The Executive Vice Chairman of Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc, Remi Olowude, has been decorated as the 20th chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) , promising to take the Nigerian industry to the next level.
In his acceptance speech, the insurance guru enunciated his vision and areas of focus for the industry to include among others:
- Taking deliberate steps towards closer interaction and strategic partnership with all stakeholders, particularly the major arms of government: the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary.
- Increased partnership with the Organised Private Sector
- Initiate a review and improvement of the professional ethics and code of good insurance practice for the insurance industry in Nigeria.hat would be accorded its full right by government and those in corridors of power.
- Collaboration with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM)
The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) was formed in 1971 as an umbrella organization for all Insurance Companies in Nigeria. It has, since then, offered its members a forum to speak to one another and for all of them to speak with one voice to the Government, its agencies and other parties, on matters affecting their business.
