NAICOM Chief Tells ARIAN To Strategise On Growth

The Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive of the National Insurance Commission (), Alhaji Mohammed Kari, has urged the Association of Registered Insurance Agents to strategise on growth and send contributions that will boost insurance growth to the commission.

Kari, who was represented by the Deputy Director, National Insurance Commission, Faruna Monday, said this during the association’s national conference in Lagos.

He asked ARIAN to make available to the commission the communique that would emanate from the conference so that could consider its contributions as part of its working documents.

“The industry’s low contribution to the bothers the commission. We want to increase it. In advanced economies, insurance companies own but the reverse is the case in Nigeria but we will reverse the trend,” he said.

During the conference, Gbadebo Olamerun, was re-elected as the president of the association.

Olamerun promised to consolidate on the work already initiated aimed at positioning insurance agents for progress.

He also promised to sustain the fight against fake agents, unethical practices and intensify membership drive.
