JAMB To Sell For N2500 And Result Valid For 3 Years – Senate

The application fee payable to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, , examination should not exceed N2, 500, the has directed tasking its relevant committees to ensure the amendment of Act. 

The resolutions came on the heel of the submission and consideration of the report on admission policies submitted by the Chairman, Committee on and , Binta Garba (APC-Adamawa State).

The Upper Legislative Chamber also extended JAMB’s entrance examination validity period to three years from one year.

What this means is that, the current practice where candidates that pass their exams but fail to secure admissions into higher institutions would no longer have to re-sit the exams the following year as they can now use same result to pursue admission for another two years.

While the Senate said application fee should not exceed N2,500, it said course forms and all other incidental activities around the examination should be free.

It would be recalled that the Senate on November 17, 2015 directed the Garba-led committee to inquire into JAMB’s examination admission policy and fee.

Applicants currently pay about N5,700 to write entrance examination to .

JAMB is the only statutory body charged with the mandate of conducting examinations for Nigerians who aspire to study in tertiary institutions.
