His profile and persona are in no doubt extraordinarily outstanding given his towering experience. He parades an impressive resume, and yet he remains humble, which he claims is a reflection of his personality having been born and raised by Moslem father who was also an Imam in his home town in Oyo State.
A great philanthropist, Dr. Ahmed Olaniyi Salawudeen, an accomplished Insurance Practitioner is presently the President/Chief Executive Officer of STANDARD GROUP OF COMPANIES.
He has received several laurels from Moslem organisations and his insurance community across the country and beyond but prefers to maintain a low profile with his belief that everything one has belongs to God. But like a golden fish that has no hiding place, Salawudeen continues to soar. It is with fanfare recently in Lagos when Salawudeen was honoured by his constituency, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) as Fellow during its 2015 graduation ceremony and inductions of Fellows and Associates. Salawudeen was among the six new inductees into the fold in the elaborate ceremony.
Born over 70 years ago in Iseyin Oyo State, after his secondary education in Nigeria and a brief stint with an insurance company, he travelled abroad.
Basking in the euphoria of his the new recognition, Salawudeen gave glory to Almighty Allah for lifting him up. “I am elated today that I am being honoured having certified all the requirements. I have a doctorate degree in insurance and I have acquired various certificates and fellows both home and abroad. But this is the peak one can attain in one’s career and I am grateful for the honour bestowed on me,” he said.
Dr. Salawudeen has an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Management (Specializing in Insurance) from The Commonwealth University Belize. He graduated from the College of Insurance Surbiton, London having qualified as a Chartered Insurance Practitioner in the year 1976. He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London and a Fellow of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers as well as an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria. He has served the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers for many years as a Council Member.
He has attended various Insurance Courses within and outside Nigeria and he holds a Commonwealth University Master Class Certificate in Strategic Leadership from the London Graduate School. Severally, he has attended Master of Energy Training Courses as well as International Aviation Insurance Training organized by WILLIS of London. In addition, he has attended African Aviation Finance Conferences both in Nigeria and in South Africa.
Having a career spanning over three decades in Insurance and Management Consulting, Dr. Salawudeen started his Insurance career with the Royal Insurance Group at Chancery Lane in London and had a brief working experience with British Engine in Manchester and the Royal Marine Insurance Department in Liverpool before setting up his own company (STANDARD INSURANCE CONSULTANTS LIMITED.
