Insurance Firm Launches Customer Education Campaign

This is part of the company’s vision to revolutionize the by making affordable and accessible for the ordinary Ghanaian.

The micro insurance campaign is funded by , Leadfrog Labs and the European Investment Bank.

As part of activities for the campaign, there would be series of road shows, community events, school and church programmes in the big suburbs of Accra to explain how micro insurance really works.

Speaking at the launch, ’s Country Manager, Russell Haresign bemoaned the misconception about insurance in Ghana.

He indicated that, their research highlighted Ghanaians mistrust towards insurance companies noting that, only 53 percent of respondents trust their insurance companies to keep their promise.

Due to this, Russell Haresign said the micro insurance education campaign is aiming to change the perception of Ghanaians towards insurance and earn their trust so they can benefit from insurance.

He noted that after massive education, in just two years of operation, they have enrolled over 180,000 customers onto a life, accident or hospital insurance policy.

“BIMA offer very simple and affordable life, accident and hospital insurance policies. From just GHȼ2 per month, you can protect yourself and your family with cover up to GHȼ 5000 depending on the policy. BIMA also make insurance easy with field agents registering you at your home or workplace, offering immediate cover”.

Mr. Russell Haresign added that, BIMA pays their claims within 72 hours and has already paid over 9000 claims.

For his part, David Dontoh, who is BIMA’s brand ambassador urged Ghanaians to secure their future by enrolling on any of BIMA’s insurance products.

“BIMA is really helping Ghanaians to protect themselves against accidents, hospitalization and death. “I am very excited to be working with an outstanding organization like BIMA”.

David Dontoh said he and other colleagues have benefitted from BIMA insurance and can vouch for its credibility.

“This micro insurance campaign is helping all of us to understand how insurance really works. I have met so many customers who have benefitted, you could be one too”.

BIMA is a agent present in 15 markets across the world distributing life, accident and health insurance policies to protect low and middle income customers.
